Planning a date can feel like a lot of pressure. Where to go, what to wear, and what to talk about are all things to keep in mind. Make your planning a little easier by considering the following tips on the best and worst dating locations.
Best Spots to Bring a Date
Dinner and a movie is a date night classic. However, instead of dinner and a movie, try it the other way around. If you see the movie first and then go for dinner, you’ll have built in conversation topics to get you going. You can talk about the movie and the actors, what you liked and didn’t like, and get to know your date by their opinions.
A museum is a great date idea for the same reasons as going for dinner after a movie. The museum itself provides you with a backdrop of conversation starters. It also takes the pressure out of having to sit beside or across from each other, with only one another to look at as you’re trying to come up with things to say.
While it may sound less conventional, exercising together makes a great date. It can be indoors or out and includes a plethora of activity options. Bowling is a great indoor activity to get your blood flowing while having some light hearted competitive fun. If you find an exercise class that’s at a fitness level you are both comfortable with, this is a great option. Exercising is a known turn on, as it gets the blood and endorphins flowing. You may end up deciding to skip the locker rooms and head home to shower together!
Outdoor activities can be some of the best spots to take a date and there are things to do regardless of the season. In summer you could go for a walk in a beautiful park, pack a picnic, or go boating. Paddle boating or canoeing gives you a chance to enjoy being on the water while getting to know each other. In the winter, snow shoeing, dog sledding, or riding a fat bike in the snow can be a lot of fun, get you exercising without thinking about it, and provide great conversation for your dinner afterwards.
Worst Spots to Bring a Date
Although you might be excited to introduce your new date around, a wedding or family event is one of the worst spots to bring a date. Too much pressure. Your date is just getting to know you. Putting them in a situation where they need to get to know your family or friends can be uncomfortable for everyone. Weddings especially should be avoided. Those events are all about love. You don’t even know if you really like each other yet.
Don’t take your date to a club. A dance club is a place to meet someone that you might like to ask out on a date. Once you’re ready for that date, the club is too noisy to really chat with each other and doesn’t offer much to do other than getting your drink on.
Sports bars should be avoided at all costs. Your date doesn’t want to watch you watching TV. If you love sporting events and your date is interested, get tickets to a live game. They are exciting and fun and give you something to come together on as you cheer for the home team.
If you follow these tips, pick one of the best spots to bring a date and avoid the worst, odds are you’ll both have a good time.
